If you were one of those people who was frustrated because, as noted previously (I was about to say “above” rather than “previously,” but the way this technology works is, what was written previously appears below, not above), the definition of ability contained able and you hadn’t yet gotten to able in the dictionary, you can relax now. We’re here.

Basically, able means that you have what it takes, whatever that may be, to do whatever it is you’re talking about. As in, “I’m not a complete idiot. I was able to understand the definition of ability. And I didn’t appreciate in the least you talking down to me in the ability entry, asshole.”

Now, that was worth the wait, wasn’t it?

Able also means that you are are, or should be, recognized for your level of intelligence, knowledge, skill or competence.
