I seem to recall mentioning the word abode in the entry on abide and I think I said I’d have more to say about it here, but that was so long ago and my memory is so short and fallible that I can’t remember now. Please wait while go look it up.

It looks like the only thing I promised was that I’d get to abode here. OK. Promise kept.

Abode means home. The word abode isn’t used much these days, at least not in North America. I don’t know about other English-speaking regions. Nonetheless, in North America, if people want to prove themselves to be total dweebs they might say something like, “Welcome to my humble abode.”
