You know that The New Penguin English Dictionary (1986), the dictionary I’m basing this project on, is British from the fact that Advanced level has an entry in it. According to that dictionary, Advanced level is the second of three levels of exams in the British General Certificate of Education.

Assuming that the dictionary is accurate and that the qualifications haven’t changed since the dictionary was published in 1986, the Advanced level exam is a requirement for university entry.

Wait a minute. What the hell? Advanced level is the second of three exams? How can that be? What’s the third of the three exams called? Really Advanced level?” Super Advanced level? Like So Totally Beyond Advanced That You Wouldn’t Believe It level?
