Home » A » am – an » amiable

Amiable (adjective) means able to get along with, live with and/or have sex with someone named Amy. (The “y” was changed to “i,” solely so that amiable would follow generally accepted standards for English words.)

As suggested by the literal definition, saying someone is amiable may carry an explicit or implicit sexual meaning, but not necessarily. You have to pay close attention to the context to determine if it is sexual. Either that or you can pay attention to Amy and the amiable person to get some clues about that.

Amiable people may be otherwise complete social misfits, total scoundrels and thoroughly incorrigible in their relations with someone else—possibly everyone else—but they get along with at least one person named Amy.
